Mule-Hide Roofing Membranes: EPDM, TPO, & PVC

Mule-Hide® is one of the most trusted manufacturers of low-slope roofing in the U.S. and Canada. The company also offers a wide selection of roofing membranes. In this post, your trusted commercial and residential roofing contractor, Empire Contractors LLC, talks about the features of Mule-Hide roofing membranes.

EPDM

  • Reinforced - This membrane is used in mechanically-attached and fully adhered-roofing systems in new construction. For EPDM membrane roofing installation, it can be used as flexible membrane flashings for walls, curbs, etc.

  • Standard - For new construction, it can be utilized as an elastomeric single-ply roofing membrane for new construction and re-roofing applications.

  • White-on-Black - It’s mainly used in fully-adhered roofing systems. This membrane is non-reinforced and fire-rated. At Empire Contractors, we specialize in siding and single-ply roofing membrane installation. We work with Mule-Hide to offer you the best low-slope roofing products.

TPO

  • Fleece Black Plus - Fleece Back Plus membrane can only be used in fully-adhered roofing systems, where’s it’s adhered with hot asphalt. This white membrane pre-printed with lap lines and offers superior hail resistance.

  • Fleece Back - Unlike Fleece Back Plus, it can be used in both fully-adhered and mechanically-attached roofing systems.

  • Self-Adhering - A Self-Adhering TPO is used in fully-adhered roofing systems and features a split release liner. It can’t be installed below 40°F and used over wood fiberboard, EPS, or XPS.

  • Standard - It’s used in mechanically-attached and fully-adhered roofing systems and may also be used as flexible membrane flashings for walls, curbs, etc., for TPO roofing membrane roofing systems.

  • TPO with CLEAN Film - An optional CLEAN film is a temporary protective film applied to the top surface of the membrane during manufacturing. It protects the membrane surface from scuffs and dirt accumulation during installation so cleanup isn’t necessary once the job is done.

PVC

  • Fleece Back - The fleece backing of this PVC membrane makes roofs more durable and resistant to puncture. Its fiberglass reinforcement gives it excellent breaking strength. This roofing membrane is California Title 24 an Energy Star® certified.

  • PVC KEE HP - It’s mostly installed as fully-adhered and pre-printed with lap lines and fastener spacing. With improved chemical resistance over standard PVC, it’s a great solution for the food service industry.

  • PVC KEE HP Fleece Back - This PVC material welds quickly and consistently. Its durable scrim reinforcement provides superior puncture resistance. Aside from being energy-efficient, it offers excellent resistance against ultraviolet radiation, ozone, and oxidation.

  • Standard PVC - It can be installed in mechanically-attached and fully-adhered roofing systems. Standard PVC can be used as a flexible membrane flashing when installing PVC membrane roofing systems. It’s also naturally fire-resistant and more flexible than TPO.
